Itelmen ritual celebration "Alhalalalay"

13 - 14 september, 2014, Kamchatka region


"Alhalalalay" is the ancient ritual Itelmen calendar holiday that marks the completion of the economy cycle.

The basis and the meaning of the holiday actions is made by eternal gratitude to nature. Creative and educational activities take place during the ritual celebration: concerts, contests, round table discussions, conferences, exhibitions-fairs, master classes.

The culmination of the event is a dance marathon or Russia Open Championship of dances of indigenous people of Kamchatka that in 2013 lasted 16 hours and 30 minutes!

That truly exciting dance and sporting show for several years is organizaed as the part of "Alhalalalay". Not only competitors from Kamchatka, yet dancers from other regions of Russia and even foreign countries, neighbouring and far away, take part in it.

"Alhalalalay" is the official holiday of Kamchatka region.
